چکیده
A 63-year-old man was evaluated for a lifelong history of bleeding commencing with frequent epistaxis as a child; all previous routine coagulation parameters were within the normal range. The patient's hemorrhagic disorder is characterized predominantly by delayed bleeding at surgical sites. In the resting state, there was no clinical or laboratory evidence of excessive fibrin(0gen)olysis. Bleeding was not caused by disseminated intravascular coagulation, factor Xlll deficiency, a2-antiplasmin deficiency, or dysfibrinogenemia. It was found that the patient was deficient in plasma PAI-1 antigen and activity but with approximately half normal antigen and normal activity of platelet PAI-1. The low

Association of protein S deficiency with thrombosis in a kindred with increased levels of plasminogen activator inhibitor-1.
OBJECTIVE A single kindred in North America with venous thrombosis was described as having defective fibrinolysis because of increased levels of plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1). Our study describes the discovery of protein S deficiency in this kindred and its association with venous thromboembolism. DESIGN A family study. SETTING Community. PARTICIPANTS Twenty-eight adults (ages...

Oral management of a patient with a plasminogen activator inhibitor (PAI-1) deficiency: case report.
Plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1) deficiency causes a rare bleeding disorder by allowing excessive fibrinolysis to occur. Knowledge of the specific type and severity of the bleeding disorder is crucial in planning a safe and appropriate treatment sequence in conjunction with a hemophilia team. This article reports the oral management of a 9-year-old female with PAI-1 inhibitor deficienc...
متن کاملAlcohol consumption and hemostatic factors: analysis of the Framingham Offspring cohort.
BACKGROUND Moderate alcohol consumers have lower rates of cardiovascular disease than abstainers. One proposed mechanism is a beneficial effect on hemostatic parameters, but previous studies have provided conflicting results. METHODS AND RESULTS We measured levels of fibrinogen, plasma viscosity, von Willebrand factor, factor VII, plasminogen activator inhibitor antigen-1, and tissue plasmino...
متن کاملThe Effects of Regular Aerobic Exercise on the serum levels of Plasminogen Activator Inhibitor-1 and Adiponectin in Obese Girls
Background: The modification of the adipokine levels can be important for the long-term prevention of systemic inflammation related to obesity in children. Objective: The current study aimed to investigate the effects of regular aerobic exercise on the serum levels of plasminogen Activator inhibitor-1(PAI-1) and Adiponectin in obese girls. Methods: This semi experimental research, 14 obese gi...
